Guys discussing the switch for the Nyland cutoff to Short. Frank and Bill Deptowicz were measuring the length required so we can cut a piece of cable for the signal stand back to the relay box.
Ted Nyland brought his American engine, he has under construction, to steam it up and test it out. Frank, John Koontz and Ted stand behind the engine as it sits on the transfer table.
A view of the backhead of the firebox on the steamer. Wally Pausch is laughing because either Paul Emch is holding the tape line or else is fishing in the woods and got Frank on the line.
A view with Frank on the end of the line measuring half the length that we need so we can take the line out and double back and cut the cable off. Wally's getting ready to take a walk with the cable towards Frank.
After dragging the cable through the woods to the relay box, we laid it out alongside the track toward the signal stand. A view showing the cable just draped across the ground, waiting to be trenched and buried.
A view from High Creek looking towards the switch across from the relay box. Frank removed the ballast from between two ties and we passed the cable underneath and fed it all the way out to the switch stand.
Frank removing the ballast from under the track just in front of the relay panel box to run the wire. Dick Clark and Rick Nagy carry a switch down to the Stanek Yard lead.
The tenative placement of the switch to add a passing siding going out of the yard lead. Paul and Don Speidel using the lift to inspect cars and check the air brakes.
Judson Elliott and Joe Banzer working on the club's GP38 engine in the hot sun. Bill trenching along the track for the wire at High Creek.
Bill's progress up to this point with trenching and soon he will be laying the cable in the trench and covering it up. The trench up to the crossing of the Branch Line at High Creek.
At High Creek, looking back along the track at all the cable in the trench ready to be buried. A view looking in the opposite direction towards Horrendous showing how the cable veers off along side the Branch Line.
Rick checks on the progress that Frank is making wiring up the switch mast which will be used to acquire the signal. Roy Harris and Jerry Bell watch as Dick Mackey puts gas into the club lawn mower in preparation for mowing the grass around the station.
Dick and Rick checking out the movement of the switch throw linkage and lubricating same. Rick hard at work checking out the switch throw but still taking time to smile at the photographer.
View at High Creek showing the cable all buried and in a few days you won't notice that any work had been done here. A view of the switch panel adjacent to the Branch Line with only the disturbed ground to indicate the buried cable running to the panel box.
