Work Session - 5/26/10

View that greeted me when I got to the park this morning, the crew had removed most of the old brick pavers. They left just a few in front of the door so as to not track in the mess into the station.
The stack of existing pavers that they removed from in front of the station. A view with the pavers removed and some tables that still have to be removed.
Boards cover the hole that was dug for the drain and the difference in elevation and the track is quite noticeable. The Park had the black cherry tree cut down due to the woodpeckers cutting holes in the tree to get bugs.
The track crew is laying switches for a new stub storage yard behind the Stanek Storage Barn. Laying the left hand switches end to end for the yard storage tracks.
Frank Foti and Bill Deptowicz were making up new track panels. Rick Nagy was removing a tie at the end of the switch that was too close to the rail joiner for the next switch.
Wally Pausch waits for Dick Clark and Frank to finalize the track panel layout so he can bolt the panels together. Rick using the track tie lifter as he places the screws to hold the rail down to the ties.
Wally working at fastening the rails with the rail joiners using nuts and bolts and rail joiner plates. Back at the station our green thumb expert, Marie Nyland had created this turtle display using a bowl and stones for decoration to the planted area.
A closer view of the turtle from directly in front and the second view is from the side showing how clever you can be to add interest to your garden.
Karl Losely setting up his transit to shoot elevations of the track and where the top of the new pavers should be elevationwise. After our break we returned to laying the track for the new stub sidings. Frank and Dick are busy joining the track panels as Rick does the same in the background.
Frank using the screwdriver as Dick bucks up against the head of the bolts to join the panels. Rick joining a straight panel to the switch and it's time for the dinner bell.
