Work Session - 5/27/09

George Woodling and Ken Brooks were already assembling another track panel when I arrived at the track. Moments later Dave Foster arrived with his truck and the second crossing he assembled at home.
Ken and George made three more track panels before work session changed over to the two crossings we have to install. As George watches Ken takes a leaning break or else it's his dedication in taking me serious that the tree has to move over six inches.
Rick Nagy brought up the ballast train so we can get the track on the ground ballasted. George and Terry Sullivan look over the placement of the crossings on the existing rail in the background.
This turned out to be a meeting of the minds in locating the crossings. The existing rail was marked and cut and the crossing put in place and fixed with rail joiners.
Bill's battery died on his cutoff tool so Lew cut the rail by hand with a hacksaw. George and Wally are joining the adjacent rail to the crossing.
Wally has just added rail clips to the ends of the rail and the depression for the crossing in the ballast is complete. the crossing in place as Rick and Wally add ties under the joined rail.
George is peening over the rail clips to the ties under the joined panels in the other direction. A view of the crossing in place with the two inch steel channel ties.
Wally and George are finishing off the ties needed from the main line to the first crossing. A view looking across both crossings as the guys add the last ties under the joined rail.
