6.13.07 Work Session

George Metts brought his new train which has a Plum Cove Studios power chassis and their flatcar kit. George put photos of his grandkids in the windows of the boxcab and was set for the train's maiden run.
The crew is moving right along on our new storage shed with the girts placed on the end of the building. The limestone has been gone over with a vibratory compactor that we rented to compact the stone.
Dick Clark checking the Branch Line rail just before the High Creek crossing. Dick Philpott doing some mantainance on the control panel for our signal system.
Let's see.....the blue wire goes to terminal 23 and all I have to do is tighten this screw.... It's easy!!!! We had to use the big club engine today as our work engine broke down.
Frank watches George apply finesse to the broom as he sweeps the excess ballast off the track. We took care of the slight dip in the rails by reballasting on Hilde Hill up by that tree.
We leveled the rails past Gulch Bridge added and tamped the ballast. Next we moved up behind the station at Cider Bridge and took care of a dip that developed coming off the bridge.
We are going to add a wye switch near the signal at Hemlock to make use of a siding we will extend. After removing two track panels we scraped the ballast out to make room for the new switch.
Dick is checking where the existing rail will have to be cut to join the end of the rail on the switch. Dick has cut the rail and the crew aligned the switch with the existing rail to check for length.
Dick is bending down the aluminum rail clips so we can slide on a steel rail joiner. As he pounds the clips flat it's nearing supper time call but we had a good days work preparing the track for the Open Meet.
