Open Meet - Pt II - 6/14/14

Tom Polk of Michigan brought his engine he has under construction of an Alco S1 New York Central diesel No.843 that he has a picture of him standing on in 1954 with his grandpa who was in New York Central Yard Conductor at W. 110th St. in Cleveland. Activity at the station as Dick Philpott gives instructions on operating his Pennsylvania box cab.
Arriving back at the station Dick Clark with his SW 1500 followed by Josh Frank running the Columbia steamer and Frank Smoley with his SW6 diesel at the rear of the lineup. Up on the steaming bay Roy and Linda Harris are doing a boiler test on Chet Roberts steam engine.
Frank Smoley with his SW6 departing the station with Dave Cryor as his passenger. Frank Foti with his switcher steam engine named "Just Jake" waits for Roy Harris to begin the boiler test.
Sean Roberts brought his 0-6-0 switcher, which is a good little steamer and is about to depart the siding in front of the steaming bays. I did say the engine is under construction, as Tom Polk manually rings the bell he is holding as he departs the station.
It looks like Josh is heading for the ash pit with Skip Frank riding behind him as he slowly passes through the switches to get to the pit. Rick Nagy with Dick Clark riding behind him depart station with the GP 38.
Someone said we had a mosquito problem over by the steaming bays so "Lynn" was parked on the siding and is taking care of the problem. Don Speidel's taking some passengers for a ride as he departs the station with his SW9.
Chet Roberts engine passed the boiler test so here he is running on the mainline after taking on more water at the station. Frank's little engine is getting fired up as he uses a butane burner to ignite the kerosene soaked charcoal.
Paul Zorko with his SW9 as he departs the station with his Fireball Express train. On the loop behind the station I caught Ron Trenhaile with his F40PH running eastbound with Linda Harris riding behind him.
Frank is all smiles as he comes into the station with Dave Cryor and Lew Fowler riding on his train. Larry Goldsby and Tom Polk talk about the electric powered Camelback switcher that the Goldsby brothers brought to the Open Meet.
A view of the Camelback up on a steaming bay that the Goldsby brothers brought. Tom Polk just passing through Horrendous with his wife riding behind him with his train powered by an S1 Alco diesel that he is detailing out.
Charlie McDonald passing through Zip Junction running a scratch built diesel switcher chassis that he just re-motored and still has to build the cab for. Bob Craig has just emerged from the Covered Bridge and is on the slight grade to Zip Junction as he rides his scratch-built Galloping Goose powered train.
Don Speidel as he coasts downgrade from Horrendous towards Filmor with his passengers westbound on the mainline. Dick Clark rumbles over the grade crossing for the Park Access Road as he leaves Horrendous on his way towards Zip Junction.
Ben Roberts at the controls of the 0-6-0 switcher with his dad Sean riding behind him as they pass over the grade crossing near Lester as they head towards the station. Mark Reigle on his train in a siding by the station as he prepares to move out for his next run.
A view of the activity at the station of the family, friends and members that were present enjoying themselves at this point in time. Dan Volkerding from Northeast Ohio Live Steamers pulls into the station with his electric powered Camelback that he brought to the Open Meet.
Richard Sales coming into the station as he's running eastbound with his scratch-built engine and train, smiles for the photographer. Paul departing Horrendous with his wife Anna riding behind him with Edith Hacker and Jen Zorko on the last car.
Dan running his Camelback with his friends riding behind him has just passed through horrendous. Ron with his F40PH is running in the opposite direction at the same location as he heads towards Horrendous with his passengers.
In this view of Tom's engine you can see the louvers haven't been added to the openings on this side of the engine yet. Larry and Alan Goldsby as they head back towards the station eastbound on the mainline with their electric powered Camelback switcher.
Ken Brooks arriving back at the station with his passengers after his run with his electric powered engine, which seems to be gaining in popularity. Matthew Tomko comes in running the GP38 and I think Frank is try to tell me he saw a Moose out in the woods and that's Steve Tomko behind Frank.
Dick Clark at Horrendous with guests and members as his passengers is about to pass over the grade crossing. Bob Pakeltis emerges from the Covered Bridge with "Scrappy" an electric powered scratch-built engine built by George Metts.
On the siding track in front of the water tower Sean Robert's steamer sits simmering while awaiting call for the next run. You have to watch the signals from Frank, as he just passed the water tower and now he's showing me he saw a Kissing Gourami tropical fish in the water.
