Open Meet - Part I 6/15/2012

Sean Roberts takes time out to pose for the photographer as he stands alongside his steam switcher raising steam pressure in the boiler. Alongside the Willis Car Barn Ken Brooks has just unloaded his electric powered Steeple cab switcher and is about to couple on to the train cars.
Hal Seiler waves I take his picture of him sitting on his speeder and that's his Rio Grande Southern US mail rider car in front of him on the sidings by the station. Steve and Bonnie Zaken were riding their train that's powered by the Plum Cove Box Cab that they own.
Kitty Shriver was sitting by the station at her table taking care of the registrations for the members and guests that were running today with their equipment. Sean arriving at the station eastbound with his train and Richard Sales as his passenger riding on the rear car.
Hal sitting on his speeder amongst his equipment, the Galloping Goose, was joined by Steve as they watched the trains come into the station. I caught Rex Shriver as he rumbled by with his Roll Models electric powered switcher heading for points West as he leaves the station.
The ever smiling Ken Vendlinger running through the station waves to the photographer as he heads out for another run. Marty Pinkston brought his Cli-Shay and has it on one of the steaming bays.
As I wait for the signal, I caught this unusual picture because Rex Shriver had just cleared the block and my signal on the right was processing the command from red to white and hadn't responded to the color change yet. Brendan Ruger with Joan Roberts doublehead with Chris and Dena Cooper as they pass through Horrendous in this panned shot.
While waiting with the GP38 for Dick Clark to clear the signal on the Branch Line block as he came up on the left side Ken came by on the mainline eastbound towards the station. Rex is just passing through the bridge and will move up behind Ken to await the signal as I run on the Branch Line.
Mark Reagle with his F7 just entering Horrendous is passing Steve Zaken and his train waiting for the block to clear. Near the water tower Dick is in conversation with Ron Trenhaile and Richard Sales as Hal with his Galloping Goose heads down the mainline westbound.
Scott Hewis at the controls of Paul Emch's NKP Hudson as he waits for the signal on the mainline at Hemlock with Paul riding behind. Wally Pausch, at the bottom of the hill by Fern, has just cleared the block signal as he heads for the Truss Bridge.
Ken has just cleared the block signal for me at Horrendous which gives me the white light meaning I can acquire the signal for the section of track he just passed through. At Fern I have a red signal for the block ahead that encompasses Hilton, Gulch and Hilde Hill as I wait for Steve and Bonnie to clear the block.
In front of the steaming bays Sean tends to his steam engine with Paul's steamer at the opposite end of the siding. Paul's NKP Hudson on the siding in front of the steaming bays.
Mark's F7 electric powered engine with his train cars are in the siding by the station. Dick has just arrived at the station and has unloaded his passengers and is ready for his next run.
Sean has backed out of the siding and heads for the mainline eastbound towards the station with his load of passengers. A panned shot with Hal riding behind Dave Foster on Dave's pair of electric powered speeders.
These guys like switching around because now Scott's running Paul's switcher, which is a Morris unit, with Paul riding on the last car. Activity near the water tower by the steaming bays as Jeff Stanek is westbound while Scott passes him eastbound with Ron and Dick sitting in a siding in conversation.
Chris Cooper arriving at the station at the end of his run with his scratch built electric powered box cab. The LSLS members were invited again this year to the Strawberry Festival Parade in downtown Kirtland, Ohio and here the crew is milling around our float waiting for the parade to start.
This just goes to show you that Pam Znidar can not hold up her end of the bargain as John Deptowicz clowns around with his wife Amy watching. Pam, John, Amy and Jerry Bell looking towards the front of the line to see if we're about to start moving.
Ethan Deptowicz is in the driver's seat of the Snoopy train and Gracie Pekarek is sitting behind with Edith Hacker and Mike Harkleroad standing alongside the trailer. Ken Brooks with John and Amy in conversation as they wait for the parade to start.
The line was starting to move so Amy and Pam took their place in line with the Lake Shore Live Steamers banner. The parade was routed through the residential district and making a loop back up to the main street and as we went along many of the participants were throwing candy to the kids alongside the road.
Before we got onto the main street from the residential area, John had taken over carrying the banner all by himself as we followed with the truck and trailer with a Snoopy display and Steve's Zaken's boxcar cover. Back at the track I caught Dick departing the station with his passengers as he passed by the switch at Short.
Ron Trenhaile and Rick Nagy sitting around relaxing as darkness starts to settle in. Mark and Marty in a discussion and I'll bet Marty didn't realize how fluorescent his blue paint comes out from the camera flash.
