Open Meet: Part II - 6/18/2011


Larry Goldsby slowly moves up to the switch for the siding on his right side. Larry and Alan did a beautiful job finishing off the Chesapeake & Ohio 0-6-0 steam switcher that's electric powered....great detail!
A view of the right side of the engine as Larry pauses while backing into a siding by the station. The other sidings contain Ted Nylands two interurbans, Dave Foster's pair of speeders, Mark Reigle's train and Richard Sales' train all slumbering while waiting for their next call to action.
Diane Hopp at the controls of Mike Uhrich's electric boxcab powered train as they leave the station Westbound. Ken Vendlinger with Bonnie Zaken and Edith Hacker depart the station on Ken's Reading train bound for points West and terminating their trip at Keeling.
Alex Mahoney, Alex Bruchac and Joe Laskowski in front of the station relax from running Joe's interurban. After unloading his passengers, Dick Philpott takes some time out to talk to Bill Besselman before making another run.
The photographer got off the train at High Creek to take a picture of the engineer of the Snoopy train, Ethan Deptowicz with Judy Oscker and Logan Tapolyia riding behind him. Back at the station on a siding Dick Clark's SW1500 engine and train shares a siding with East Wind and his train, slumbering under steam.
Ethan and the Snoopy train with Judy and Pam Znidar departing through Horrendous have just passed Rex traveling in the opposite direction heading into Horrendous. Some of the activity at the station as trains switch into sidings in front of the Snoopy train with Woodstock watching the action.
Rex Shriver with his electric switcher and passengers just coming off the Branch Line near East Wind. Ron Trenhaile, Ted Nyland and Alex take a break sitting on the GP38 train's riding cars as Marty continues working on his Cli-Shay on the steaming bay.
Frank Foti stopped just short of the station to unload passengers after his run with East Wind. Rick Nagy pulls out of the station with a full load of family and friends of Clyde Bleil to take them to the dedication ceremony of the Covered Bridge.

The club had a special plaque made up for the occasion which is covered up behind Karl Losely who as president of our club, made the presentation with a little history about the Covered Bridge. Some of those present who listened to the talk given by Karl.
After Karl's speech Pam Znidar read a poem that she had composed for this occasion. Ken Broooks and Karl did the honor of removing the wrap covering the plaque dedicating this bridge as the "Clyde Bleil Covered Bridge".

David Haines, Robbi's brother, doing the honors of cooking all the steaks for our dinner tonight in front of the Parks' Pavillion. Robbi Haines and Karen Haines were our servers with Kitty checking off the attendance list.
The line forms as it wraps around the pavillion, down along the side as they wait their turn to be served. Karen and Robbi serving the main food and you helped yourself to the sides.

Everyone seems to be enjoying the meal as the noise level has quieted down several decibles. A view from the other end of the pavillion at our gathering of members and friends.
Sam Foti, Frank's father and owner of Hose Master, was presented a plaque by Ken Brooks as our way to show him thanks for making his facility available to us as we affectionately call it our Hose Master winter headquarters, a division of Lake Shore Live Steamers.
