6.22.05 Work Session


Running low on ties with the aluminum rail clips so Dick Clark and George Woodling man the press. Dick and George making a curved section of track.
Bill Deptowicz and George finish up a panel of steel track and carry it over to the aluminun track that we will be replaced for todays project.
Ted Nyland and Dave Foster are at the press as George Davidson and George Metts watch. A different view of the action at the press.

George Metts shows George some lights for our new signaling project. Meanwhile, Bill and George are constructing another curved track panel.

Pam Znidar starting to prepare the food spread for our supper today. The track panels are down and connected with the group working on removing more aluminum rail at the far end of picture.
Edith Hacker and George Woodling work on the track splice of two panels. Dick working on the next splice making sure the joint is up to his inspection.
From the switch we have fifty feet of track panels down. A little more ballast has to be removed for the tracks to mate up properly.

Dick aligns the track panel over the existing rail to mark the cutoff point as Dick Mackey and George watch. Bill and Dick are going to remove more ballast after Dick cut the aluminum rail.

George, Dick and Frank Foti dump the ballast in preparation of leveling the track. The track has been leveled and in the process of being tamped and swept down to remove excess ballast.
Frank and George finish up the tamping of the newly laid track. Over 800 ties were pressed and 80 feet of track replaced today.
