Public Run - 6/22/14


With beautiful weather for today's Public Run, Ron Malinowski starts off with his passengers for his first run of the day. John Koontz as engineer of the GP 38 departs the station with almost a full load of passengers.
Chet Roberts, with his steamer, advances the throttle as his engine gains speed and he's westbound out of the station. Now there's a happy family on Don Speidel's train even after waiting in line for their ride.
Ted Nyland is gaining speed with his pair of interurban's after having just left the station with his passengers. Ken Vendlinger gives a wave along with his passengers as they rumble over the grade crossing for the Park Access Road on the mainline.
Dick Clark as he passes through Drudgery is only at the half-mile mark of the little over five scale miles for our ride. Scott Hewis as he approaches Hemlock with his passengers at almost the same location.
Next to come along with his Columbia engine named "Lynn" is Skip Frank which by the exhaust shows that the engine is working. Following behind Skip is Ken Brooks who was traveling in a cloud of haze created by the little steamer ahead of him as he approaches Hemlock.
Paul Zorko after having passed through Hemlock is on his way to the Big Wash Bridge as he heads towards Hilton. John Deptowicz with his Snoopy train as he crosses Big Wash Bridge with his passengers will start the grade down towards Fern.
Ron passing over the same location with his trainload of passengers with his electric powered switcher. John with the GP38 having just passed through Hilton starts the grade down to Fern and has Dave Woldman as his conductor on the rear.
Chet with his steamer coasting down grade has just passed by the yard lead to the Stanek Car Barn as he applies the brakes to keep the trains speed in check. Ted waves to the riders on John's train on the parallel track ascending the grade, as he descends on the grade to Gulch.
Don was next to show up with his SW9 as he coasts downgrade as he nears Gulch with his passengers. Ken Vendlinger throttle backs traveling downgrade as he heads towards Hilde Hill.
Scott gives a wave as he passes over Bridge No. 6 at the bottom of the hill on his way towards Fern. Ken is about to pass through the Truss Bridge with his passengers on his way towards Mackey's Run.
Emerging from the Truss Bridge is Skip with his steamer and in a few seconds you should hear the staccato bark of Lynn as she assaults the grade up to Mackey's Run. John with his Snoopy train rolls by Mackey's Run on his way towards the Big Bend Bridge.
Paul with his Fireball Express and his two passengers, ascends the grade up to Big Bend Bridge. Next to come through this location was Ron with his electric switcher and a full load of passengers.
John on his next trip around is at the midpoint of the Big Bend Bridge with his riders as the train rumbles over the wooden deck. Now there is a happy load of passengers on Chet's train as he blows the whistle for the photographer.
Don with his SW9 as he rumbles over the Big Bend Bridge with his five car consist loaded with passengers. Caught Dick Clark as he emerges from the Covered Bridge on his way towards Zip Junction which is the midpoint of the ride.
Scott gives a wave to the photographer as he emerges from the Covered Bridge as he motors towards Zip Junction. Ken Brooks having emerged from the Covered Bridge with his full load of passengers will soon be passing through Zip Junction on his way towards Horrendous.
Back at the station Mike Harkleroad has just finished loading Ted's interurban's with his passengers for this run and Ted is starting to gain speed. Don Speidel advances the control lever as he starts to move away from the station at the beginning of his next run.
With his passengers settled in, Ken advances the throttle on his electric powered cab as he heads down the mainline track. Skip just having passed over Festival Bridge with his train load of passengers, nears the end of his run as he's coming in on the backside loop to the station.
Having just passed through Pandora, Scott approaches Shoe and the Covered Bridge with his passengers in tow. Bill Deptowicz with the Snoopy train as he approaches Shoe on the curve from Pandora.
Ken has just passed over Cider Bridge with his train as he nears the end of his run and will shortly be arriving back at Shriver Station. Ted with a full complement of passengers for his interurban's, passes through Pandora after having just come off the Big Ben Bridge.
Ken and all his passengers give a wave as they pass over Cider Bridge on the way towards Festival Bridge and soon, Shriver Station. After the public run Ethan was engineer for the Snoopy train with grandpa Bill behind him and his cousin Kaitlin Moorhouse.
