Clyde's Birthday Party and Run - 6/28/09

Clyde Bleil, our birthday boy, at 100 years old enjoying the festivities. Clyde and his friend Marie pose for the camera during his birthday party at his home track where trains were running.
Marty Pinkston brought his CliShay to run and is about to depart the station. Chan Bleil set up some smaller steam engines for a running display of engines.
No that's not a still, it's the boiler generating the steam for the table top engine display. They don't make too many 100 year train theme birthday balloons so this one was modified to fit the bill.
Clyde's train leaving the station with a load of passengers driven by a guest. Dick Clark, Mark Ross, Mary Lou Schmidt, Dave Foster, Howard Murphy and Paul Emch all LSLS members.
Rick Nagy at right was also part of the group. At left, friend of Harolds who helped make it possible for him to be here today, Roberta Uhrich, Rex Shriver, Edith Hacker and seated, Harold Sicherman one of our charter members.
Rex standing at the station waiting for his train to come in. Something about a nod of the head, a pull of the ear and.... Paul Emch brought his engine and is showing Dick the controls as Rick waits for the ride to begin.
Kitty Shriver was talking but the camera caught her with this odd expression such as that, I'll have what she's drinking. Howard and Clyde reminiscing about the "good ole days".
Ron Trenhaile, Jerry and Sue Bell with Chet Roberts and his engine at the steaming bay. Lou Geis, Jr brought the chassis for a 4-6-4 that his Dad, Don, had been building.
Don had the boiler for the 4-6-4 in the bed of his pickup truck. Also in attendence was another LSLS member, Dick Mackey and his wife Cathy.
Another load of happy passengers as the train slows coming into the station. Another member, Craig Marshall was doing what you usually see him doing, taking alot of pictures.
Chan Bleil behind his Shay that he has just rebuilt. Kitty and Rex Shriver sitting in the shade enjoying the activities.
Clyde was supposed to pose for cutting the cake and instead he just stabbed it with the knife. A portion of the group that were watching Clyde cut his cake.
Pam Znidar with CLyde and his daughter-in-law Mary Ann Bleil. Some of you might wonder what Santa Claus does during the summer....I don't know either as that's one of our LSLS members, Judson Elliott.
Craig Marshall talking to Dick Philpott and Ron Trenhaile. Alex Bruchac coming into the station with Joe Laskowski's interurban and his passenger behind him.
A happy steamer...you can tell by Marty's dirty face that he is having fun today. Paul Emch coming into the station passes Marty as he is starting another run in the oposite direction.
Deb and Bill Bodemer pose for the camera as the country gentleman from the deep South is all smiles. Well it looks that way.... The large placard on display with pictures of Clyde in earlier years.
One of Clydes friends taking the engineers duty before the start of the next run. Ken Brooks talks to Marty as the CliShay sits on the steaming bay with the fire dropped.
Bill Besselman is all smiles and you can see some of the group of people in attendance in the background. Paul with his train crossing the long trestle with his load of passengers.
One of the guests at the throttle of the shay as he heads back to the station. Another guest at the controls of the diesel engine coming out of the woods toward the station.
More members of our club in attendance, Dick Philpott, Jeff and Cindy Klein take time out for the camera. A three quarter shot of Chan's rebuilt shay from the front.
This is where we depart todays event. Happy Birthday Clyde and many more. Photos taken and provided by Pam Znidar.
