The crew is working on extending the runout track at the end of the yard with Rick Nagy watching John Koontz and Dick Clark move the track panel into position. Edith Hacker was cleaning out the drain pipes under the tracks today removing the leaves and branches that have accumulated.
The guys are deciding how far to run the additional track panels for the spur. Rick using the blower to remove the leaves from the uneven ground so that we may fill the righ-a-way with ballast to bring it up to the proper grade.
Wally Pausch and Dick work at joining the track panels together with bolted rail clips. Back at the steaming bays Don Speidel was taking apart a pair of trucks and lubricating the bearing and checking them out for excessive play.
Judson Elliott showed up and was helping Don with the task at hand. Bill Deptowicz shoveled the ballast from the old Branch Line right-a-way in the background to build up the area in the foreground for the new track panel extension.
Rick and Dick joining track panels with one more to go. While this work was going on Lew Fowler was painting the guide rails for our new lift we have under construction.
Jake Knox was tightening up the aluminum rail clips with a hammer and a punch on the exiting rail we were re-using. Dave Foster drilled the railroad ties and Bill put the rebars into position through the holes.
Wally watching Paul Emch checking out the trucks on a bad order car in the storage shed. Bill driving the rebars through the ties into the ground to anchor them and keep them from moving.
The lift guide rails are painted and the rods are all driven in which completes another task. Judson working on the throttle cable which keeps coming loose from vibration rendering it useless.
Joe Banzer who spearheads our locomotive repair team joins Judson to check progress. The chain came off our roll-up door in the new car barn and Mike Harkleroad assists Dave Foster getting it back together again.
