7.12.09 Public Run


Prior to the run George Metts is running his Hit-n-Miss engine heading out on the main line. Bob Beardslee with his switcher is about to start the first of the run as he waits for the all clear from Robbi Haines.
Karl Losely checking out the gauges on the Hudson while waiting for Robbi to finish loading his train. Tom Pappas talks with Robbi before his first run with Ken Brooks on the train behind them.

Behind the station Ethan Deptowicz is taking his dad, John, for a ride on the by-pass track around Orchard Yard. Skip's engine "Lynn" lifts her safety as they wait on the main into the station.
The trains are bunching up coming into the station today partly because we had to shorten the run. Karl coming into the station with a full load of passengers.
Josh Frank taking Ethan for a ride behind the Hit-n-Miss engine with the distinctive POP...POP exhaust sound. At the Park you can find some really interesting and beautiful butterflies, such as this young lady had.
Bill Deptowicz getting a ride from his grandson, Ethan who loves to be the engineer with Toby. Karl with the Hudson gaining speed after just leaving the station.
John and Amy Deptowicz with Ethan talk with Jerry Bell who has been digging and filling buckets. Dick approaching Cider Bridge on his way into the station as he nears the end of this run.
Richard Sales with his Hogwart Express passing through Zip Junction. Ken Brooks just approaching Zip Junction on a different track than we normally take because of the track removal at the site of the covered bridge.
Ken Vendlinger coming up the hill has just passed through Filmor. Shortly afterwards Rick Nagy with the GP38 came up the same grade and has just passed the water tower.
A good spot to sit and let the trains come to you as Richard starts to crest the grade. Bob eases the throttle back as the engine picks up speed after the grade from Filmor.
Ken Brooks passing by with his switcher and his load of passengers. Following Ken, Bob easily takes the grade without much effort as he adjusts the throttle on his engine.
Paul Emch on a Morris switcher just passing through Filmor. Dick on the grade that starts at Gulch Bridge as you head for Filmor running in this direction.
Rex Shriver attacks the same grade but is running with a light load. Bob crossing Patty's Rock Bridge will begind to assult the grade towards Horrendous.
Chet Roberts with a load of passengers that seem extremely happy with the ride. Ken coasting down the grade from Gulch and about to cross over Gulch Bridge with his trainload of riders.
Scott Hewis takes the diamond at Gulch which we did for the shortened run today because of the trackage out at the covered bridge foundations. Rick just passed through Hilton on the grade down to Gulch.
Skip Frank starts to coast down the grade at Hilton which is at the top of the hill. Wally Pausch on Big Wash Bridge as he heads for Hilton and the start of the grade down to Gulch.
After a young girl got bitten we discovered a hornets nest hanging from the tree to the left of our loading zone. We moved the boarding line to the exit area in front of the station.
Scott on the big engine with Lou Fowler as his conductor wait as Robbi loads and Dave waits his turn. Tom coasts to a stop as Audrey Roberts tells the riders to wait for a complete stop before getting off the train.
Wally coming into the station to unload with the help of Audrey assisting the riders. Mike Harkleroad at the end of this run with the Hogwart Express as he slows coming into the station.
