Club Run - 7/19/14


Club members at the station for our club run today which started out overcast. Took a walk down by the Justin Tyme Bridge and foundt the bridge guardrails had been bent in so as to not interfere with the switch throw.
Frank Foti's soldering in new LEDs on one aspect of the block signal that either voltage spikes or lightning strikes seem to knock out the top signal light which has a power path to it even when the light is off.
Dick Clark has just cleared the block signal as he passes through Fern with his SW1500 on his way towards the Truss Bridge. The signal to acquire the block at Shoe was also hit and Frank is replacing those LEDs.

Greg Guy, as engineer of the GP 38, as they rumble over the grade crossing for the Park Access Drive across the mainline with Rick Nagy and Bonnie Zaken riding behind him. It's getting so dark it looks like it might rain as Dick passes by the same location.
At our scissor lift for the steaming bays, Dave Woldman and Ron Trenhaile watch as Frank Foti unloads his little steam switcher. Frank on the steaming bay with his switcher as he raises steam in preparation for a run.
With the steam pressure up and the cylinder cocks open, Frank runs his steamer off the turntable on to the track down to grade level. Carley helping Bonnie transport the food to the shelter house where we are going to have our club picnic today.
Frank sitting astride the tender of his steamer is getting ready to advance the throttle and start moving out towards the mainline. Frank waits for the photographer to take a picture for prosperity of the momentious occasion.

At the station Judy Oscker and Emmy Pausch with her grandchildren on Dick's train as he is ready to leave the station. A light rain has started and Frank Smoley checks out the chicken breasts cooking on the grill that are covered by the tinfoil.
Mike Uhrich checking his batch of chicken breasts with the thermometer to see if they are done. Karl Losely has just checked the chicken breasts on his grill as Wayne Boron heads for cover of the shelter house to get out of the rain.
The view from out under the shelter house as Emmy and her grandchildren arrive with the umbrellas. Karl turns the chicken breasts so that they won't burn on the grill.
Dave Cryor, Frank Smoley, Judy Oscker, Kathy Losely, Mike Uhrich and Wally Pausch look over the settings of the food while waiting for the chicken to cook. Mike and Karl bravely stood in the rain and cooked our chicken.
Mike walks over to the cooler of chicken as Karl turns the chicken breasts on his grill. Karl checking the temperature of the chicken with a digital thermometer to make sure they're cooked properly as did Mike.
The members start to form a line to get their plates filled with food. We had a small turnout today, possibly because the weather and here we have Richard Sales, Dick Clark, Edith Hacker, Judy Oscker and her brother Tom Harwedel who was visiting from Texas on his vacation.

Mike Uhrich cozying up to Ray Delmore's doberman, named Diesel, that Ray uses for his walking patrols of the park paths. We held our club meeting after dinner and here the club members enter into a discussion about a topic.
