Work Session

Frank Foti watches George Woodling and Jon Swartz load the ballast train he just backed into the spur. One of the tasks today is leveling and reballasting the outside main at Mackey's Run.
We leveled the track and even had to raise the switch by the tree to take out a dip that developed. A view from the switch looking east with Jon coming back with a broom in his hand.
Dave Foster cutting square bar for the rail that will be fastened to the floor. A view of the 5" offset we had to do because of the door vendor.
To "bend" the angle rail Wally Pausch cut a series of slots in the horizontal leg of the angle, the angle bent to a radius and Dave Foster welded the slots back up. This picture shows them both welded up.
Dave welding up another set of "rails" upside down against a finished set so the rails would be the same for the other side of the building. The rail spacer bars set into tentative position for welding to hold the gauge.
Don Speidel using the park engine to move our GP38 which has a problem with brakes. Dave welding up the set of rails for the upper level.
The bottom set of "rails" made up of 1/2" square bar was easy to bend and weld flat 2" x 1/8" bar "ties" to hold the gauge. Emily Kutscher frying up potatoes for tonights supper which will be Lake Erie perch provided by Ted and Marie Nyland.
Kitty Shriver is also frying up potatoes as Pam Znidar watches. Marie Nyland is helping out with the potatoes too and will start to fry fish to feed the hungry workers for this popular meal they provide each year for a work session.
