7.24.05 Public Run

What a change a day can make. This is the sight that greeted me at the Park...RAIN! Club members ate their lunch as it rained and rained and rained.
Chet Roberts steamed his engine up in the rain and set it out by the station. You can see the water on the cushions as it continued to rain past our one o'clock start time.
A thoroughly wet Chet after coming back from a run in the woods with his wife Audrey, who at least had a rain parka. Skip Frank watches as Frank Foti raises steam on his engine in the rain.
Chet and Dave Schweitzer head around the track in the rain. Dave shows us that even though the rain is letting up that back in the woods the leaves on the trees are still dripping.

I think Frank thinks by eating that shovel of coal he'll generate some btu's to ward off the cold rain. Skip, Chet and Frank in the steaming bay area and it has stopped raining.

It's 1:47 p.m. and the people are showing up to ride the trains. Paul Emch coming into the station with a load of passengers. We shortened the trains because of wet rails for our 3%(+)grade in the woods.
Frank, with his Pacific, coasting into the station with Jonathan Shaffer after his test run. The line didn't get very long as the rain kept many away.
Paul about to depart the station with Bill Bodemer as conductor under the watchful eye of Roy Harris, our train loader, as the remaining riders wait for the next train.
