Public Run

Roger checking over his engine on the siding next to the steaming bays. Bill watching Kevin punch the tickets of passengers on Tom's train as Dick waits to be loaded next.
Don Speidel coasts into the station with his train and John Knootz is the conductor. Bill Deptowicz will soon be pulling into the station unloading area with the Snoopy train.
Jeff Klein stokes the firebox on his stationary boiler on wheels to raise steam for blowing the whistle mounted above it, with his wife Cindy seated behind him. Pam Znidar is conductor on Mike's train as it departs the station for another run.
Kevin Harris takes time out to pose for the camera all decked out in his conductor uniform. It took a little longer to take the time to punch tickets before the trains departed but the riders will have a memento of our 25th Anniversary.
Don't remember what happened but by the expression of Kevin, Bill and Roy it must have been good. Frank with a train load of passengers and Ken Brooks as conductor leaving the station.
Jon behind his Northern that slumbers on a steaming bay under steam. No, all that smoke is not from the Snoopy engine as John waits for the "All Aboard" from Roy to leave.
Clyde Bleil one of our charter members, sits on our club passenger car which was named in honor of Clyde and his wife Ann. Frank talks to Roy about loading his train as Kevin listens and Paul Emch stands between the tracks.
Kitty with the radio headset departs the station with a light load. Caught Penitentiary Glen Manager Dan Burnett taking pictures of our 25th Anniversary celebration with the Park for their record.
With Bill faithfully counting the pasengers Jerry Bell starts his run under Kevin's watchful eye as passengers load on the adjacent train. Dad looks happy with the impending ride but his son looks a little apprehensive about riding the noisy train.
This is the group photo that I took of the Lake Shore Live Steamers and the one on the right was taken by an interested party so I could get into the photo.
Marty using the track behind the station to run his Cli-Shay under steam after the run. Cornelius Gould running the Snoopy train with John behind him and a load of passengers.
Bob Beardslee alongside of his engine up on a steaming bay. George Metts with his POP POP.....POP POP destinctive sound Hit'n'Miss engine down by the truss bridge courtesy of an old Maytag product.
Now here is a sight that we don't often see, a steamer man running an electric powered train as Skip is doing. Karl Losely at the controls of Jon's Northern at High Creek as I waited for him to clear the block signal.
The following pictures were provided by Pam Znidar and Jerry Bell. The Park presented our club with a cake which we enjoyed after the run. Kevin, looking all dapper, punching tickets before Dick Clark moves his train.
Ted Nyland was having a problem with low battery voltage earlier and Ken Vendlinger waits to be loaded. Clyde Bleil and Frank Foti (on right) pose with Dave Noble who is Executive Director of Lake Metro Parks.
One thing you can't get around and all railroads seem to have them, hobos or pan handlers. Members Ray Dellmore and Judson Elliott with their hats out looking for donations from the passengers as trains passed thru Truss Bridge.
The end of the line for the public waiting to ride at one point was all the way up to the Nature Center. To give you a better perspective of the length of the line and there's still about eighty feet of line you don't see.
Watching the trains load adjacent to the smoky steaming bays. Kitty and Rick with their trains after unloading their charge of passengers wait to pull up and take on another load of riders.
With Bill checking the count Skip opens the throttle of "Lynn" and slowly moves on down the track as Frank tends to his engine. Three of our switch builders taking it easy, Rex Shriver, Ted Nyland and Ray Dellmore sit on Rex's train.
Bill Deptowicz holding his grandson Ethan Deptowicz who has had enough excitement for one day and has fallen asleep while riding the trains. All good things must come to an end as we see Paul Emch's NKP caboose "Ride off into the sunset".
