A partial view of the staff and volunteers that were present in the meeting room of the wildlife center for this gathering. Another view of those present in the meeting room for this occasion.
Tammy confers with Ken Brooks, the Lake Shore Live Steamers President, on the list of members of the club for the 30 years since inception at the Park. It also was a Public Run day for us and this was in conjunction with the Woodcarvers Show and here is Rick Nagy with the GP38 and passengers departing the station.
Paul Zorko with his SW6 Fireball Express departs the station with his passengers on one of his many runs. Ted Nyland with his pair of interurbans, that are electric powered, gets aboard his powered unit and prepares to depart the station.
Skip Frank with his Columbia steamer "Lynn" advances the throttle and starts to gain speed as he departs the station. Sean Roberts was here today and with his train all loaded, he starts his run on mainline 2 track from the loading area.
John Deptowicz with his ever popular Snoopy train and his smiling passengers as he advances the throttle for another fun filled ride for the kids with the sound of the Snoopy theme emanating from the engine. Paul Emch with his SW6 Nickel Plate Road diesel switcher and a full load of passengers with Lew Fowler as his conductor on the rear.
Richard Sales, with his electric powered engine that he scratch-built is across from the water tower as he just crosses over the switch that leads to Short at the beginning of his run on the mainline. Dick Clark on the switches from mainline 2 as he crosses over to mainline 1 in front of the steaming bays.
Here is Frank Foti, with East Wind, showing his appreciation for all the photographer does to get his mug shot on the website. We really do get along! John Koontz at the beginning of his run, having just departed the loading area with Jennifer Legan is his conductor.
Ken Vendlinger gives a wave to the photographer as he passes through Zip Junction and will soon be rolling over Cider Bridge on his way back into the station. Ray Delmore, in his trainman uniform, took time to pose with Amy Mihalik as she was displaying a live short ear owl that they care for. Quite a hoot!
In amongst all the wildflowers and up by the butterfly bush I found this butterfly, namely Ethan Deptowicz a member of the LSLS team, sitting on a laser cut steel bench. Don Speidel has just been given the okay to move his train that Robbi Haines loaded as Skip Frank on track 2 waits for his passengers.
Ken Brooks at the controls of the GP 38 moving away from the loading area with a happy load of passengers and Jennifer as his conductor on the rear. Bob Beardslee has his Pennsylvania switcher all steamed up and ready to pick up some passengers.
Dave Woldman departing the siding by the station with his passenger and his gas powered switcher. Don's train just started rolling again on his next run as Paul Emch waits for Robbi Haines and Roy Harris to load his train as Mike Harkleroad stands by to assist.
Bill Besselman along with Dick Mackey and Dick Schmidt have a total combined membership of 100 years in the LSLS club and that is a lot of experience as well! With the sound of Snoopy's doghouse taxing down the runway, John starts his next run with his load of passengers on mainline 2.
Paul arrives back at the station with his passengers who will soon embark from the train with the aid of Anna Zorko standing at the right. Ken having passed through Pandora will soon pass through Shoe on his way to the Covered Bridge with his trainload of passengers.
Skip Frank with his steamer Lynn at about the halfway point on the Big Bend Bridge with his passengers looking like they're trying to duck out of the steam exhaust from the whistle. A few minutes later Sean Roberts came by with his switcher showing very little exhaust.
Frank approaches the end of the Big Bend Bridge on East Wind with his passengers and that's Lew Fowler as his conductor. In this view, we see Mike with Bob's Pennsylvania switcher as he crosses over the Big Bend Bridge from a slightly overhead view.
Paul Zorko just having passed through Mackey's Run takes the curve and aligns for the Big Bend Bridge as he approaches the midpoint of the ride. John Koontz with the Park's GP45 caught in the flash of the camera as he passes Mackey's Run.
Dick Clark just climbed the slight grade from the Park Access Road grade crossing through Mackey's Run on his way towards the Big Bend Bridge with Dave Hird as his conductor. John with the Snoopy train is following a short distance behind Dick as he's actually at Mackey's Run after passing through the Truss Bridge.
Kenny has just passed through Fern and is on his way towards the Truss Bridge and gives a wave along with his passengers as he passes the photographer. Coasting down grade from Gulch towards Hilde Hill, Skip's steam engine gives a fine plume of exhaust rising over his head.
Ted coasts by Hilde Hill with his passengers who seem to be enjoying the ride as he approaches Fern with his pair of interurban's. Frank with East Wind as he passes over Gulch Bridge will soon tackle the 3 1/2% plus grade up to High Creek with his load of passengers.
