8.04.04 Work Session

The station crew is moving right along in getting the siding up and Edith Hacker has been busy to get the primer paint coat on fast.
The backside of the station with the progress to date. This is one of our rainy work session days. Dick Clark taking the ties we loaded up to the station
Ted Nyland made the name up with pieces of steel rail to denote the usage of this train shed, "Switch Shop" that he and our switch committee have been cranking out switches to our needs
Dave Foster brought his pnematic press to put rail clips on ties for aluminum rail since we can't work on the track because of the forcasted rain today.
Box of rail clips that Dave pressed out using the clubs dies, a two part process. Edith Hacker putting the galvanized nails in the aluminum clips
Dave puts the clips on the die which automatically spaces them for the 7 9/16" gauge we use. Adding a tie on top against the stop the machine presses the nails into it
The finished ties with the clips attached. The special pliers bend the tabs over the foot of the rail during rail installation. George Woodling taking a turn at the machine
George loading clips in the die. George at the machine with Edith and Dave loading finished ties in the rear gondola and it is still raining.
George Davidson and George Metts work on putting a sill in the opening of the new addition. Looking good with the new sill installed
Emily Davidson prunning the dried foliage and flowers out of flower bed in front of station. At right, they also cut out a door to close off the opening.
Edith Hacker and Roger Harnish with a trainload of finished ties. Dave, Dick, George, Edith and I stacked up over 600 ties with clips that we made up today
Ted Nyland fastening the rails down after rebuilding the switch points as Bob Beardslee watches. Rex Shriver making adjustments as Ted looks on.
Ray Dellmore doing scheduled maintainance on the switches. Karl Losely showed up with his equipment and the new lift for unloading or loading at the steaming bay
Karl set it on ground to change position for lifting it in place. The lift is powered both horizontally and vertically
Karl positions the forks for lifting. Rex Shriver,Roger Harnish, Ron Trenhaile and Mike Uhrich help as karl climbs back on machine.
Getting ready to lift and check load for balance. Moving the lift over the concrete foundation to set it on the transfer table rails.
The transfer table in place on the guide rails. Another view in which you can see the tethered controller. Thank you Karl for the time and effort you put into this project.
