8.05.09 Work Session


The track crew were laying out the switches in the yard approach to the Stanek Car Barn. This view shows the grade wall with some of the backfill which will eventually be a stub storage yard on the upper level.
This view is alongside of the Stanek Car Barn with the proposed switches that will connect the yard track behind the Willis Barn. Grover Griffin(Ted's brother-in-law) and Ted Nyland work on making another switch.
George Woodling, John Koontz and Edith Hacker work at relocating the dirt from the covered bridge excavation. Lew Fowler holds the end roof truss in place as Jake Knox watches
Mike Harkleroad, Steve Zaken and George load and move the buckets near the track for the work train to pick up. The crew waits for the end framing on the bridge to be completed.
Lew and Jerry Bell off load a sheet of plywood as Mike keeps the car from rolling. Mike, Lew, Wally Pausch and Jerry bring another loaded gon of plywood for the roof on the adjacent track.
The barn wood plywood siding has been attached on the end of the bridge. Mike, Dick Mackey and Mike Uhrich watch as Jerry drives in the screws for the first piece of siding on the opposite end of the bridge.
Bill Deptowicz and Jerry hold the first roof panel in place with Karl Losely and Mike about to climb ladders to fasten the panel down. Work on the roofing panels is moving along.
Robbi Haines holding the ladder for Jerry as he is fastening the lower portion of the panels and Karl working at the top. This side of the bridge has all of the roof panels in place.
Karl fastening down the first sheet of plywood on this side as Jerry, Robbi and Lew hold it in position. Jerry and Karl roll out the tar paper to cover the wood as darkness settles in for the night.
With the tar paper on both sides Robbi picks up the tools and we call it a night. The crew checks for any equipment lying around and some of the shingles have been brought down to the bridge.
