Public Run - 8/11/13


A trainload of club shirts with Paul Zorko as engineer, Ken Brooks, our Pres., John Koontz, Allen Jesunas and Dave Foster riding the train. It must be 1 o'clock as the 1st train, which is Skip Frank and his steamer "Lynn", is just leaving the station under a vapor of exhaust.
Scott Hewis gives a wave to the photographer as he passes by with his train and that's Lew Fowler as his conductor on the rear. Rick Nagy departing the station with a full load of passengers and Jennifer Legan as his conductor at the rear.
Ken Vendlinger as usual is all smiles as he departs the station on his 1st run of the day. Richard Sales smiling and looking relaxed from last night's run as he lays back in his unusual reclined control car.
Paul Emch has his big Nickel Plate Road Hudson locomotive out today and leaving the station with his 1st load of passengers. Robbi Haines behind the train has just finished loading Paul Zorko's train and he is pulling away from the station and all smiles
Skip leaving the station with another load of passengers is on the mainline and heading West. I caught John Koontz as engineer for Don Speidel's train as he passes over the switches and crossing at Zip Junction with Don on the rear as his conductor.
Emerging from the Covered Bridge on his way towards Zip Junction is John Deptowicz with the Snoopy train and his riders. Coming up the grade after passing through the Truss Bridge is Rick at Mackey's Run as he heads towards the Big Bend bridge.
Ken Brooks passing by the whistle post at Mackey's Run for the crossing he just rolled over heading in the opposite direction westbound with Jerry Bell as his conductor. Next coming through is Kenny with his switcher and again all smiles as he passes by Mackey's Run.
Paul with his Nickel Plate Railroad steam engine approaches the Truss Bridge after coming down the grade from Gulch. Shortly after that at the same location, John came by with the Snoopy train and will soon be rumbling over the bridge on his way westbound.
Paul as he came down grade from Hilton is at the bottom of the grade at Fern as he passes by the siding before the Truss Bridge. Skip following some distance behind has just passed over bridge #6 and about to pass by Fern with the safety on Lynn lifted.
Paul on Patty's Rock Bridge is at the bottom of the grade from Filmor and will soon start the assault on the 3 1/2+ % grade up to High Creek. Skip has just passed over Patty's Rock Bridge and will next cross Gulch Bridge and start the grade up to High Creek.
Dick will soon arrive at the apex of the 3 1/2+ percent grade with his train at High Creek as viewed through the woods with the shot. Back at the station, John Koontz is at the controls of the Fireball Express and waits for Marty Pinkston to finish giving the riders instruction.
On the GP38, John got the highball from Marty and big red started out on its run with a full load of passengers and it looks like Dick Schmidt is his conductor. Dick Clark departs the station with his riders and Lew Fowler on the rear as conductor.
John with the Snoopy train leaving the station with his passengers riding first-class on this run. Skip and Paul at the station with Marty loading Paul's train. How come there's no smoke coming out of Paul's Hudson?
Skip has taken on his load of passengers and opened the throttle on Lynn as the smoke billows from the exhaust stack. Ken departs the station with the Park engine with full load of riders and Jerry Bell as his conductor.
Scott is all smiles as he leaves the station with Frank Smoley as his conductor after having his train loaded by Marty Pinkston. Next to leave the station is Jennifer Legan as engineer of the Fireball Express, her dad's SW9, as she starts out her run.
Richard accelerating his train as he departs the station with a full load of riders. Bill Besselman seated to the left is our passenger counter today and watches over things as John waits for Dick's train to finish loading by Marty.
John Koontz just starting to roll as John Deptowicz with the Snoopy train pulls up to load passengers. John moving out on mainline 2 will soon take the switch to get the mainline 1 trackage with his riders.
Ken with big yellow engine moves away from the station after being loaded with passengers, with Jerry at the rear as conductor. As Bill counts the riders, Scott is given the all clear to move his train out on his next run.
Kenny putting coal from the bunker into the firebox on his electric engine as he moves out on his last run with public passengers for today's run. Paul's checking over how they loaded his train and it looks like there's only a handful of riders left waiting in line.
Paul departing the station with his train which will be his last load of public riders for today. With the run over, Ethan Deptowicz was running the Snoopy train on the Orchard Loop behind the station with his mother Amy and brother Austin Tapolyai riding behind.
