8.12.06 Star Gazers Run


Dick Clark started unloading his engine from his truck by removing the blocking bolts he uses. Ron Trenhaile helping to align the transfer lift with the track to the turntable for Fosters' speeders.

Back in the woods the sun was filtering down thru the trees in the calm before the run. It was good to see Ken Vendlinger back at the track with his Reading switcher after an absence.
At the station the public waits in line for the run to start. Jon Jaros brought his Northern chassis that he is building to get some running time on the mechanism to break it in.
Judson Elliott pulls into the station to pick up a load of riders. Rex Shriver waits for Karl Losely to finish the instructions to the riders on his train.
Roger Harnish with his train gradually heads out on the mainline but his engine splits the switch and goes on the ground. George Woodling helps Roger lift the rear of the engine back on the rails.

Pam Znidar is the conductor as this train leaves the station. The riders wait patiently under the clear star filled sky tonight just perfect for the star gazers and their telescopes.
Roger giving his engine a much needed drink as he tops off the water in the tender. Even though it cooled down after sunset the smiles abounded as the passengers took to the trains.
Rex looked around as I took the picture..just guess you can't win them all. Rex wondering if he can load more maybe because of the current charge he has left on his batteries.
