Public Run - 8/14/10


Four duffs, Rex Shriver, George Metts, Lew Fowler and Ray Dellmore as they wait for the beginning of the Super Star Party train run. Ken Brooks was the first train to load with Bob Charles Bassett doing the honors.
Rick Nagy ever behind the GP38 with a trainload of passengers and Lew Fowler as conductor, departing the station. Mike Harkleroad with the Park engine about to start his run with Steve Zaken as conductor. We put in the red lights on the station as this will turn into a night run.
Dick Mackey talks to Karl Losely, who is acting passenger counter today, as Jeff Ridler departs the station with a trainload of passengers. Ted Nyland has just passed through the covered bridge and his next crossing will be through Zip Junction.
Ken at the same location and Don Speidel is his conductor for this run as darkness starts to settle in. Dick Clark with his SW1500 switcher having passed through Zip Junction will shortly pass over Cider Bridge on his way into the station.
Frank Foti came by next with a full load of passengers at the same location with East Wind working easy with her load. Jeff just having passed over the Truss Bridge will start climbing the grade at Mackey's Run.
John Blotnick was walking the rails, using one of our portable sanders, as they were getting slippery from the evening dew on the rails. Frank with his charge of passengers is about to pass through the Truss Bridge. Could this be a study of his concentration? What if the bridge is out????.
As I headed back to the station I caught Jeff just past the switch that cuts off to Short and you can see that darkness has fallen outside of the woods also. Mike and Kitty Shriver carry the cowling for the Park engine which developed a problem.
Dick leaving the station with another load of passengers and the lights at the station are showing off very nicely. Edith Hacker and Logan Tapolyai were helping unload passengers at the end of the ride and pass out a coloring books provided by the Park.
Some of the activity at the unloading area after Dicks' train came into the station. Kitty and Marie Nyland take a few moments between activities to relax and chat. They are wearing the luminous chemical light rings that the Park was giving out.
Bob Bassett giving the riders instructions for the ride as Ted patiently waits to start his next run. Rex Shriver advances the throttle on his electric powered switcher as he moves his train out toward the main line.
Steve has taking over passenger counting as Bob adjusts one of the seats for a rider as Karl watches and Jeff checks his controls. Kitty on our new conductor car with her flashlight in the special "holder", the toilet plunger.
Bill Deptowicz coming into the station running Teds' interurban with John Deptowicz behind the camera filling in for Dad. Logan Tapolyai, Amy Deptowicz with Ethan Deptowicz and their luminous rings creating a pattern even with the flash on the camera stopping the action.
Jerry Bell coming into the station with his load of passengers is also wearing one of the rings. A non flash picture of the rings as displayed as the group watches Jeff move up to the loading area with his headlights causing the smear of light.
Same location except using flash to see that Jeffs' train is all loaded and ready to depart as Karl gives instructions to the riders. Ken waits to move forward to the loading area after having just discharged his passengers from their ride.
Pam Znidar as conductor for this train smiles for the photographer before the train moves up to load more passengers. Kitty surrounded by a ring of light from the people behind her and she's not using our exclusive flashlight holder.
East Wind arriving at the station bathed in a glow of red light with her head light most prominent. Frank tending to the fire in East Wind as Rick departs the station with his next load of passengers.

Bob and Amy wait for Rex to bring his train to a stop so they may aide the unloading of passengers as Jeff slowly moves into the station. Two conductors, Pam and Lew, conferring over the rules and incidents tonight .
Ken unloading at the station has to be tired as he wasn't spelled during the run. Jeff coming in with his last load of passengers for the night.
Ken loads members and friends who are going out next for a ride. John Blotnick at th econtrols of the GP38 has a load of members and their families and waits to depart thus ending another great run.
