Club Run - 8/20/2011

George Metts invited some Amish men and their families to come up to see our trains and how we construct our trackage and here we see Rick Nagy with the GP38 leaving the station with Wayne Boron as conductor. The station is always a good place to find members in conversation.
Bonnie and Steve Zaken in the background looking over their train as Skip Frank with his train by the water supply checks over his steam engine. Later on I caught Skip leaving the siding along side the fire pit at the station with a guest and Steve looking on.
Judson Elliott at the controls of the Park engine arriving back at the station with Paul Zorko along for the ride. Due to all the rain we've been having lately the fungi has really been blossoming out in the woods and here is a particularly spectacular example.
From the tiny to the largest, the dampness of the forest bedding seems to spawn these interestingly shaped fungi. And here some more variations of fungi found on a trip around our track.
Dick Clark with his SW1500 stops at the bottom of the hill with Ron Trenhaile riding behind and pulling up behind a fine example of an NKP caboose that's tagging along behind Bonnie Zaken riding on the conductor's car of the train ahead. These thin, wispy fungi are another example of the variety found on the grounds of the Lake Shore Lives Steamers Club.
Skip blowing down his engine, "Lynn" on the steaming bay. Paul and Wayne talking to Wally Pausch at the controls of his engine about to start his next run with his wife, Emmy, sitting behind.
Rick with his camera taking pictures of the event and gaining some good experience. It's mid-summer and the wild flower garden at the Nature Center is in full bloom, including these purple cone flowers.
Here we have the ever popular Black-eyed Susans adding to the glorious mix of color in the garden. Another perfectly lovely flower -- do you know what it is called?.
Skip and Wayne look on as George Metts on the far side looks over the electronic controls of Scrappy which is up on a steaming bay. Adam Pakeltis talking with Edith Hacker who is tending to the fire in the fire ring by the station.
Emmy and Judy Oscker taking a break/discussion in front of the station. Dick departs the station with Ron riding behind as Rick checks out the picture he took.
Edith tending to the fire in the fire pit by lifting up the logs for a better burn as Adam watches. That's one giant exhale of a puff as the smoke seems to be pouring out of Edith's mouth.
Scott Hewis running his newly acquired engine is approaching Zip Junction as Dick waits for main line traffic on Short Line. A closer view of Scott rumbling over the crossing at Zip Junction with his passenger, Judson, as the photographer with the club's GP38 passes by.
As I looked back after passing Zip Junction, Dick had a look of disbelief on his face at all the traffic he had to wait for to cross the Main Line. Dick waits with his train as Scott pulls out of the sidings by the station with his "new" acquisition.
Dick leaving the station with Adam and Bob as passengers as he starts his next run. Wally leaving the station with a trainload of his family members, with wife, Emmy, as conductor.
Scott getting ready to leave the station with Emmy and her grandson as passengers. Kitty Shriver sits on a bench up at the station knitting to keep her hands busy. It was a good run today.
