Public Run - 8/25/13


A beautiful day for a public run today as the trains gather at the station and the members wait for the beginning of the run, which is 1 o'clock. Dave Foster talks to Dick Clark as Paul Zorko departs the station with his 1st load of passengers.
Chet Roberts pulls up to the station with his steamer as Ted Nyland, with his interurbans, prepares to depart with his load of passengers. Rick Nagy behind the big red GP 38 with a full complement of passengers moves out on his 1st run with Lou DeLembo as his conductor on the rear.
Roy Harris has just finished loading Richard Sales train and he will shortly begin his 1st run of the day. Judson Elliott with his scratch built electric box cab that he's building is departs the station with his passengers.
John Koontz is engineer of the Park's engine and is departing the station with a full load of passengers with Steve Zaken as his conductor. Ken Brooks watches as Frank Foti passes by with East Wind as the train picks up speed and that's Dave Woldman as his conductor.
With his hopper loaded with children and a full load of passengers, Don Speidel with his SW9 leaves the station with Lew Fowler riding as his conductor. Rick slowly moving through the switches from mainline 2 to get to mainline 1 as he departs with another load of passengers.
A picture looking from Drudgery through the woods towards Horrendous as Dick Clark with his SW1500 starts to take the grade down towards Filmor giving you an idea of the wooded area we run through with our trackage. Richard has just passed over the Park Access Road crossing with his passengers.
In a few minutes John passes by at the same location, westbound, as he heads towards Hemlock from Drudgery with a load of mostly young passengers. Frank passing through Lester with his train will slowly run through the switches and crossings to get onto the mainline.
Dick having passed through Hemlock will soon be at Hilton and start the long grade down towards Fern and has Lois Smoley as his conductor. Chet having passed through Hemlock will soon be passing over the Big Wash Bridge and then the grade down to Fern.
A panned shot of Rick with the GP 38 as he climbs the grade to High Creek with his passengers and will soon be passing through Horrendous. After coming down the grade from Hemlock, Ted crosses over Bridge #6 at the bottom of the grade just before Fern.
Rick at the same location, with his passengers, as he rumbles over the wooden bridge and will be passing through Fern as he heads towards the Truss Bridge. Following some distance behind, Richard approaches the photographer at the same location with his train and passengers.
A picture of John as he passes by the same location in this distant shot showing the whole train as he starts to advance the throttle after coming down the grade. Dick emerging from the Covered Bridge as he approaches the midpoint of his run as he continues on towards Zip Junction.
Ted appears out of the Covered Bridge with his passengers running lite on this run as he heads for Zip Junction and Horrendous. Ken Brooks as engineer at the controls of the club's GP 38 as he emerges from the Covered Bridge in this low level shot.
A good vantage point to watch the trains as they emerge from the Covered Bridge and here we have Chet Roberts running with 2 passengers as he takes the slight grade up to Zip Junction. John as he nears the ends the run, will soon be passing over Cider Bridge and taking the loop into the station with Steve as his conductor.
Don passing through Shoe is about to enter the Covered Bridge with his passengers with Dave Hird as his conductor. Just missed Mike Harkleroad running Ted's Nyland's interurbans as he rumbles over the Big Bend Bridge heading for Pandora.
Richard came along shortly and is crossing over the Big Bend Bridge and is near the midspan as he heads towards Pandora with his trainload of passengers. Next to come along was Rick with the GP 38, which is a good hauler on our public run days.
Standing next to the Big Bend Bridge you can get some good low angle shots of the trains as they go by and here we have John with the Park engine as he heads for points West. Next to come along was Judson with his train with the rumbling of the wooden deck as his electric powered engine and the riding cars passed over it.
Next to come along was Paul with his SW9 fireball express with a trainload of happy passengers enjoying the ride as they head for Pandora, Shoe and the Covered Bridge. Ted back on his interurbans as he passes through the Truss Bridge on his way to Mackey's Run.
Dick with his train has just passed through the Truss Bridge will be soon taking the grade to Mackey's Run and the Big Bend bridge. John looking very intent as he passes through the Truss Bridge and will soon be rumbling over the grade crossing for the Park Access Road.

Ted crossing over the Patty's Rock Bridge will soon assault the grade up to High Creek with his pair of interurbans and passengers. Rick emerging from the Covered Bridge with one of the last loads of public passengers for the run today.
