8.26.09 Work Session

Over the weekend Jerry Bell and Kitty Shriver painted the verticals on the bridge before the siding was put on. Dave Foster and George Woodling and the three panels already fastened to the covered bridge.
George fastening the diagonal bracing thru the panels into the bridge girder. A view of the five diagonals that we put on each side as George tightens up the bolts as Ken watches.
The oposite side of the covered bridge with center panels in place and the diagonals starting to be erected. An inside view of our siding progress and George tightening the carriage bolts for the diagonal.
The ogre at the far end of the dark bridge, Mike Harkleroad, will be waiting at the next night run...BEWARE! Ken checks the location of the diagonals for fastening the siding panels to them.
Jeff Ridler and Ken watch as Wally Pausch and Dave start to fasten the top of the diagonal to the roof framing overhang. Bill Deptowicz notches a panel that will be placed over the window as Ken holds it down.
Roger Harnish and Karl Losely work on fitting an end panel in place as Jeff and Ken watch the progress. With the panel temporarily in place it will be marked for the the notches for the roof rafters.
Roger hammers the panel into position with a little finesse. After the panel was notched it fitted up easy as Ken lifted it in place ready to be fastened on.
