Work Session - 8/27/14

Frank Foti runs the work train through a set of switches to get on to the Branch Line where we will be working today. The crew waits for lunch to start serving, as they wait patiently for the dinner bell to be rung.
Today were putting in the track from Gillette to the Branch Line between High Creek and Filmor, to tie into the switch that we put in last time. We started out by bending rail and here John Koontz, Dick Clark, Frank Foti and Rick Nagy work at the task.
John supports the end of the rail since we took out too much ballast as they decide the curved rail placement coming off the switch. Rick watches as John, using the tie lifter, holds the tie in position as Frank drives the screws home to hold the rail.
Looking from the Branch Line towards Gillette, we see the progress made in removing the ballast laying the ties and fastening the rail down as Frank continues working. Dave Hird steadfastly continues lubricating and checking the points of our switches which is a weekly schedule for him.
A view from the plate girder bridge by Filmor at the progress from the switch we put in last week on the Branch Line, as Frank continues to fasten the rail to the ties. John and Frank work to slip the rail in another rail clip to join the two sections of rail.
We had some track panels that we are reusing from another area that was replaced with steel rail and they are laid in position behind the guys. Dick and Rick taking a break in the background as Lew Fowler watches John with the tie lifter and Frank driving the screws in.
