9.02.09 Work Session

After bringing down the generator George Woodling filled the gas tank as Ken Woods and Steve Zaken watch. Bill Deptowicz cuts notches in the siding panel to clear the roof rafters as Ken looks on.
The siding panel fit so Ken and George are fastening it in place. Except for the little top corner pieces at each end this side will be done.
Ted Nyland brought his American locomotive that he is building for a boiler test and it rests on one of the steaming bays. A view of the backhead with it's plumbing in place. Yes, it passed the test.
Some of the crew that were working on the two large engines checking them over and applying some TLC. Lew Fowler and George Metts are checking for the source of an oil leak on the Park engine.
With one crew working on the bridge, another doing maintainance on equipment and the track crew laying down rail it was a busy day. George is cleaning up the cut that Bill made for the piece of siding on the end of the bridge.
Jeff Ridler watches as Ken and George add horizontal framing at the window openings to stiffen the siding. Jeff up on the roof attaching the end siding pieces to the cupola to finish it off.
Jeff adding more fasteners to the vertical framing we added at this joint. Kitty Shriver wasted no time in getting the paint cans opened and transferring the paint from the can to the finished siding.
Don Speidel brought the work train and is busy loading the cutoffs and extra wood on the train with Jeff to cleanup the area. Wally Pausch and Rick Nagy are working on track behind the Willis Car Barn as Joe Banzer checks their progress.
We were fortunate enough today to see Paul Bunyan (aka Roy Harris) strolling through the woods. You see the darnest things out here. Wally and Rick adding ties under the rail at the track splice.
