9.09.07 Public Run

When we got to the track today for the public run we found that a tree limb came down from the high winds the night before and damaged the track on the Branch Line. The guys quickly removed the sections across the track.
Rick Nagy, Joe Banzer, Frank Foti, Dick Clark and George Woodling doing cleanup of the area to open the track. Looking overhead we can see where the limb came from.
The rain stopped before lunch and Karl Losely is taking the first group of riders with the Park engine. Ted Nyland with his interurbans at Drudgery and a happy load of passengers.
Frank with Eastwind as he passes the Short Line junction with his passengers. Karl approaching Short just after leaving the loading area on this overcast day.
Bob Beardslee with his live steam switcher picking up speed as he leaves the station. Rick with the club's GP38 only pulling two cars because of the wet rails and the 3+% grade at Gulch.
Dick Clark with his SW1500 prepares to leave the station. Marie Nyland at left watches Paul Emch pull into the station for unloading which today is handled by Pam Znidar, in red cap.
While Paul waits for Robbi Haines and Rodger Harnish to load his train Frank coasts to a stop with his Pacific steam engine. Karl and Jerry Bell, his conductor watch as Scott Hewis departs from the station.
Bob checks out his steamer while waiting for George Davidson to clear the main. Frank with Eastwind and a load of passengers on the return track behind the station by Thorn as seen thru the woods.
Dick coming off Big Bend Bridge as he heads for Pandora, then Shoe and Zip Junction. Who picked out these names? George Woodling approaching Ridgeway as he climbs the grade from Mackey's Run. I've never seen Mackey run!
Scott climbing the grade from the Truss Bridge as he passes Mackey's Run. George coming around the bend at the same location with his trainload of passengers.
Bob Beardslee blowing his whistle as he approaches the grade crossing which is just past the Truss Bridge #5. Dick applying power passing through Fern after coasting down the grade from Gulch and Hilde Hill.
George Woodling running Paul Emch's engine glides by as he crosses Patty's Rock Bridge and the start of the grade up to Gulch. Frank with Eastwind at the same location but from the other side of the curve.
Rick Nagy with Jerry Bell as his conductor at the same location as Rick adjusts the throttle as the engine approaches the grade. Bob up on the top of the hill at Horrendous will start to coast down grade toward Filmor.
George waiting for the "All Aboard!" as Roger gives the passengers instructions for riding our trains. Dick with John Deptowicz as conductor waits for Roger to finish loading the train and the line is all the way to the right.
The anxious riders wait as Robbi, in white, looks for riders to fill two seats on the train. With Frank at the controls and Ken Brooks as conductor Edith Hacker, with Roger behind her, answers a question about Franks engine.
Bob Beardslee blows his whistle as he leaves the station and Rick on the adjacent track waits to be loaded. Paul is all loaded and has John Knootz as his conductor for this run.
Bill Bodemer at left is our passenger counter today and George's train loads with Karl Losely as conductor. Roger in one of his more humorus moments.....before George leaves the station.
Hardly anyone wants to look at the cameraman as the train departs and Frank behind them is doing mosquito control. Ted is about to depart as Paul moves up just after unloading his passengers.
Hey! Look at that, John knows that there was a cameraman around. Interestingly both trains pulled up to load and the rear of the trains were about even, with John and Karl side by side.
John, Amy and Ethan Deptowicz afer the run, try out their new Plum Cove Studios chassis with Grampa cameraman holding Ethan. I wonder if Ken Brooks is pondering whether or not he had fun today?....running trains is always fun!
