Work session - 9/08/10

Lew Fowler is investigating a overheating report with the Park engine. Today we leveled and ballasted the track from the car lift to the yard that is alongside of the Willis Car Barn.
Paul Zorko, Rick Nagy, Wally Pausch, Lew and John Koontz are continuing along that track as they work their way out to the yard area. Dick Clark, Paul, Lew and Wally in this picture are tamping the ballast around the ties and adding more ballast to the track.
I told Dick while we were at it we should add a hump yard but this is not what I meant as this hump is on the main line not in the yard. Dick bringing the work train into the yard on the level section of the yard.
We finished the track that leads thru the yard and right out to the main line and this is looking West. View looking East from the same location back toward the Willis Car Barn and the track is looking good.
As we headed back to the station I found Ted Nyland digging for the continuation of the tie beam wall alongside of Marie Nyland's flower garden that she takes care of. Marie setting the stones with mortar for the drainage outfall from the Park service work shed yard.
Marie put the mortar around the stones and added more stones to get the contour she wanted for the outfall. Jerry Bell was setting posts for the gate alongside the tool shed and had them braced plumb and vertical as the cement set.
