Public Run - 9/22/13


Frank Smoley talks with Dick Clark before the start of the Public Run as John Deptowicz checks the flags on the front of the Snoopy trains headlight. John's train is all loaded and he departs the station on his 1st run with his passengers.
Rick Nagy slowly gains speed as he departs the station with a fully loaded train and Jonathan Shaffer as his conductor on the rear. Scott Hewis gives a wave to the photographer as he approaches Hemlock only a few minutes out of the station.
In this view, we catch Ken Vendlinger as he's about to pass over the Big Wash Bridge as he heads towards Hilton and the grade down to Fern. Skip Frank climbs up the 3 1/2+ degree grade from Patty's Rock Bridge as he heads towards High Creek.
John coasts down the grade as he heads towards Gulch with his Snoopy train as Scott, on the adjacent track is climbing the grade towards High Creek. Joe Vasko passing over the Gulf Bridge as he assaults the grade up to High Creek.
Ken Brooks, our president of the club, coasts by as he passes by Hilde Hill on his way towards Fern coming down the long grade with his trainload of passengers. Rick here at the same spot coming down the long grade as he's about to pass over Bridge #6.
Jerry Bell running Paul Zorko's SW9, approaches the Truss Bridge with his passengers as they pass the Fern siding that has cars set out on it. Skip rumbling off the wooden deck of the Truss Bridge is about to pass over the grade crossing for the Park Access Road.
Don Speidel passes through the Truss Bridge with Paul Emch riding behind him as his little passenger gives a wave to the photographer. Scott is the next to pass through with his train as he heads West towards Mackey's Run.
Joe just passed through the Truss Bridge and will soon be rumbling over the grade crossing as he heads towards Mackey's Run. John Koontz comes along shortly as engineer of the Park's engine as he heads towards Mackey's Run and the Big Bend Bridge.
Ted Nyland with his pair of interurban's as he takes the gentle grade up to Mackey's Run as he heads towards the Big Bend Bridge with his passengers. John with his Snoopy train and passengers will soon be rumbling over the Big Bend Bridge and his passengers seem to be enjoying the ride.
A low angle shot of Ken with his train as he passes through Ridgeway running towards the Big Bend Bridge. Paul at the controls of his engine has just come off the Big Bend Bridge as he heads towards Pandora with his passengers.
Skip emerging from the Covered Bridge with his steamer "Lynn" as he heads towards Zip Junction with his engine starting to work as he takes the slight grade up. Rick heading back to the station as he nears the end of his run as he rides on the loop around Orchard Yard.
Back at the station, the line of riders is still long as Robbi Haines loads Dick Clark's train as he waits for her to give the passengers the riding instruction before he departs. Robbi has finished loading Ted's interurban's and he starts moving on down the track for his next run.
Robbi talks with one of the riders before Dick departs the station with another load of passengers with Marty Pinkston in the gray sweater looking for the next group of riders to board the next incoming train. I couldn't resist this shot, it was just too cute as the youngsters were really looking forward to the ride.
Sean Roberts waits for Robbi to finish loading his train before he cracks the throttle and moves out with his steam engine for his next run. Robbi checks and make sure that the handbags are within the confines of the dimension of the car as John listens for the "All Aboard" call so he can start his next run.
Ken has finished loading and gives a wave as his train starts to pick up speed as he departs the station with his passengers. Ted in his typical pose of riding side saddle on his interurban with Bill Besselman in chair, doing the passenger count and that's Ron Malinowski standing behind Ted.
John departing the station with his passengers on the Snoopy train as Robbi waits for Dick to pull ahead to load passengers on his SW1500 diesel engine powered train. Rick nearing the end of his run as he passes over the Festival Bridge soon will be on the loop around the Orchard Yard behind the station.
Paul Emch running Don's SW9 as he rumbles over the Festival Bridge will soon be pulling into the station where his passengers will disembark from the train. Joe passes by the same point as he is about to crossover the Festival Bridge as he to is nearing the end of his run.
Skip, with "Lynn" hardly emitting any exhaust, crosses over the Big Bend Bridge with his passengers on his way towards Pandora. Paul having passed through Horrendous is now at Zip Junction on his way back to the station.
Bob Beardslee with his Pennsylvania switcher on the loop behind the station checking it out as he has just converted it to propane firing from coal. Jonathan Shaffer at the controls of the GP 38 approaches the station with Austin Tapolyai in the conductors seat at the rear.
Austin really enjoys riding on the train and makes use of the empty conductors chair. Dave Woldman, on the mainline running his switcher, as he comes around the loop behind the station with his wife, Valerie enjoying the ride.
