9.23.09 Work Session

Work continues on adding ballast to the track to dress it off. Ted Nyland was in the switch shed making another No.7 switch by cutting and grinding the rail to complete the form.
Joe Banzer, Ken Brooks and Lew Fowler watch as George Metts works on the GP38. The Park engine was next to get some attention as Ken checks out the undercarrage as Mike Harkleroad watches.
These two engines have had minor things needing attention lately so they are receiving the TLC. Paul Emch is changing the couplers on his cars to the new ones produced by Tom Bee which are a much cleaner casting.
Up at the station Dick Clark is sweeping the new ballast along the mains at the unloading area in front of the station. Edith Hacker is taking a break as Dick Mackey and George Metts talk over the transfering of ownership of Dick's Camelback steamer.
Dick backs up his truck as George aligns the transfer track piece as Paul watches. Paul checks to make sure the wheels are aligned with the turntable rail as he eases the 0-4-0 Camelback onto the table.
Dick Mackey, at left, sold the engine to George Metts. The March 1985 Modeltec showed pictures of it at the LSLS run on Bleil's track and stated that Joseph Kubaki, then current owner, bought it from Elmer Roth. Later Joe sold it to Dick and now the engine is on it's fourth owner, George Metts. Happy steaming George.
