Public Run - 9/28/14


John Deptowicz with the Snoopy train and Scott Hewis with his train are the first two trains in the lineup for today's run. Greg Guy is loading the trains and giving riding instructions to the passengers on John's train.
Ken Brooks, engineer of the Park engine, departs the station with Dave Hird as his conductor on the rear. Rolling to a stop in front of the station, Ted Nyland with his pair of interurban's and passengers were followed into Shriver Station by Dick Clark with his SW1500 diesel engine.
Anna Zorko, posing for a picture, walked over to Dick Clark and gave him a lovey hug. Skip Frank swings his leg over his Columbia steamer engine "Lynn", as Paul Emch with his NKP Pacific steam engine blasts out of the station with his passengers. (The Pacific is electric powered)
Skip checking over his engine gauges with safety lifted and the exhaust rising straight up as he waits for the passengers to finish loading. John departs the station running with a short load on this trip with the Snoopy train.
Scott gives a wave to the photographer as his train gains speed leaving the station and that's Judy Oscker as his conductor on the rear. Skip is just about to cross over Festival Bridge as he heads back towards Shriver Station.
Frank Smoley having passed through Zip Junction is on his way back in towards the station and will cross over Cider Bridge next. Caught Ted just coming off the Big Bend Bridge, which is 120 feet long, as he motors towards Pandora.
Next to come by was Don Speidel with a trainload of passengers as he heads for Pandora, Shoe and the Covered Bridge. Dick about midspan as he crossed over the Big Bend Bridge with a full load of passengers and Lois Smoley as his conductor.
After ascending the grade at Mackey's Run, Paul Zorko and his SW9 heads for the Big Bend Bridge with his charge of passengers. Paul with his NKP Pacific having just passed through the Truss Bridge and rumbling over the crossing for the Park Access Road heads for Mackey's Run.
Skip, crossing through the Truss Bridge with safeties lifted on Lynn's boiler as the steam vapors wafts back over his passengers. John just having come down the long grade from Hilton has passed through Fern and on his way to the Truss Bridge.
Rick passes through Fern with his passengers as he heads west towards the Truss Bridge and Mackey's Run with Dave Cryor as conductor. Don coasting down the grade as he passes through Gulch on his way to Hilde Hill and points West.
Frank assaults the grade up to Gulch having just passed over Gulch Bridge with his passengers who are all smiling enjoying the train ride. Standing at the crossover at Gulch, Ted motors by with his pair of interurban's and passengers.
As Ted climbs the grade up to High Creek, Paul with his train coasts down grade from Hilton and will soon be passing through Gulch. Paul just passed through Hilton with his passengers as he starts the descent down to Fern.
Skip having passed through Hemlock and crossed the Big Wash Bridge heads for Hilton with Dick Schmidt as his conductor. John with the Snoopy train as he approaches Hilton will soon start down the long grade to Fern.
Scott having passed through Hemlock as he passes over Big Wash Bridge gives a wave to the photographer with conductor duties being done by Judy Oscker. Rick with the club's GP38 as he approaches Hemlock with Dave on the rear as conductor.
Ken Brooks at the controls of the Park's engine with a good load of passengers and Harry Tabor as conductor at the rear of the train. Next to come by was Frank with a group of young riders thoroughly enjoying the ride.
Ted on the mainline, crossing over the crossing at Ted's Connection which was named for him because it was his idea to connect into the Short Line track. Dick Clark's passengers as his train slowly gains speed with Dave Hird as his conductor.
Frank departs the station as Bill Besselman seated behind the train takes passenger count for the Park. The passengers on Don Speidel's train, as he leaves Shriver station on his next run.
Paul concentrates on the switches ahead as he leaves on his next run with his young passengers and their mom. Skip nudges the throttle bar with cylinder cocks open as the water mixed with steam is blown out of the cylinders and Lynn starts to gain speed.
Lois, the conductor, smiles as the train passes through the switch to take the loop behind Shriver Station and soon will be in front of the station. Next Ted passed by with a very happy family of passengers who gave a wave to the photographer.
Bill Deptowicz passed by at the same location with the Snoopy train and a happy trainload of passengers. Frank rolling through the switch which directs the train to the loop behind the station and soon he will be discharging passengers.
